I think I found a potential cell mate for O.J. Simpson.
A jury has convicted pop singer Boy George of falsely imprisoning a male escort. Jurors sided with Norwegian Audun Carlsen, who accused the pop star of handcuffing him to a wall at the singer’s London apartment and roughing him up. Boy George admitted handcuffing him but said he did so because Carlsen had tampered with his computer and removed photos. He’ll be sentenced Jan. 16, and the judge has said jail time is likely.
Of course, O.J. Simpson was sentenced today.
The judge threw the book at OJ Simpson today, giving America’s favorite courtroom star a 15-year sentence on the most serious charge related to his role in an armed hotel hold-up, CNN reports. He could serve up to 21 years on all the charges, and he won’t be eligible for parole for six years, the New York Daily News notes. “Everything in this case was on tape,” said Judge Jackie Glass. “It’s your own words, Mr. Simpson… that brought you here.”
Simpson surprised the judge and onlookers by speaking at the trial. “I stand here today sorry, somewhat confused,” said the emotional Simpson. “I didn’t want to steal anything from anybody. … I just wanted my personal things. I was stupid.” Glass was unmoved. “You went to the room. You took guns. You used force. You took property,” she said, “and in this state, that amounts to robbery with the use of a deadly weapon.”
