You Might Be A Militia Member If…

There is a document online titled MIAC Strategic Reported, The Modern Militia Movement. It is dated February 2nd of this year on is reportedly a document from the state of Missouri Information Analysis Center and Missouri State Highway Patrol.

I first heard about this on the Glenn Beck radio show if you have access to his podcast it is hour 2 for 3.19.09.

Kansas City Star

A new document meant to help Missouri law enforcement agencies identify militia members or domestic terrorists has drawn criticism for some of the warning signs mentioned.

The Feb. 20 report called "The Modern Militia Movement" mentions such red flags as political bumper stickers for third-party candidates, such as U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, who ran for president last year; talk of conspiracy theories, such as the plan for a superhighway linking Canada to Mexico; and possession of subversive literature. […]

But state law enforcement officials said the report is being misinterpreted. […]

"All this is an educational thing," Hotz said of the report. "Troopers have been shot by members of groups, so it’s our job to let law enforcement officers know what the trends are in the modern militia movement."

I’m sure Lt. Hotz of the Missouri State Highway Patrol is genuinely concerned for his fellow troopers. The problem, to me, isn’t that law enforcement profiles, it is some of the persons and organizations profiled.

Some identify “markers” of a potential Militia member are:

  • Those who are against the Ammunition Accountability Act. Basically the act would require an serial number be engraved upon all ammunition.
  • Those who anticipate the economic collapse of the US government. Given our current economic situations, I imagine many persons believe that there could be an economic collapse.
  • Those who worry a Constitutional Convention could take place and result in the repeal of the 1st and 2nd amendment. A Con Con would allow for the alteration of the United States Constitution either by adding to or removing from the constitution. There has been a move towards a Con Con for sometime, if it ever took place then it is possible that any amendment could be removed.
  • Those who are concerned about the possibility of a North American Union or a New World Order. I believe both a NAU and a NWO are real possibilities. I have read many news articles over the past year in which various world leaders have either called for a NWO or suggested that one might be needed. Gordon Brown has pushed the idea several times. I understand of course that how he defines a NWO and how I define one may differ greatly.
  • Those who are concerned about a Universal Service Program.
  • Tax resistors.
  • Militant Abortion. By this they mean militant pro-lifers. The documents speaks strictly about those pro-lifers who “take up arms”. Having had been active in the pro-life movement for years, I assure you that the police consider those who take up placards to also be militant pro-lifers.
  • Those who use short wave radio for communication purposes.
  • Committees of Safety. Organizations established to lobby government officials and confront corruption.
  • Those against the Federal Reserve.
  • Members of 3rd parties. Specifically mentioned are supporters of Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin and Bob Barr.
  • Anti-government propaganda. Those who display pictures, cartoons, bumper stickers that contain anti-government rhetoric.
  • Those who are anti-immigration. Very broad term. I am anti-illegal immigration and think our government has not simply dropped the ball, but dropped it and kicked it over the fence. I am not anti-legal immigration.

The above just a sampling from the document. Many of the persons mentioned in the document likely should be considered dangerous, but much of the document describes everyday normal Americans.

So remember, if any of the above bullet points describe you, you may be considered by the state of Missouri as a threat.

  1. Bill,
opposing a convention should not place one on a list of potential militia.

I hate to admit that I had no idea so many applications had been submitted, I was 100% ignorant of this.

Considering the persons we have in power, I can’t help but to worry about what would come to pass should a con-con take place.

I also do not understand why, if the criteria to hold a convention has been meet, that the Left has not yet taken advantage of it. Some piece of the puzzle is missing in order to make sense of this as it presents one of the greatest opportunities they could hope for.

Thanks for the link, it is informative and bookmarked.

  2. There is a reason why those who oppose a convention are listed in this Missouri report. All 50 states have submitted over 700 applications for an Article V convention. The state realizes all that is required is 34 applications and it knows Congress must call under the terms of the Constitution.

To oppose obeying the Constitution is a criminal act in this country. Therefore those who are opposed are in fact advocating overthrow of our constitutional form of government.

You can read the applications at http://www.foavc.org

  3. Nutty stuff huh?
